Are you ready to say aloha to a lifestyle that includes Hawaii property? For a growing number of luxury home buyers, owning a residence in the Pacific Ocean state is the way to go. “Upscale properties in Hawaii have been in huge demand since the pandemic began,” says Matt Beall, CEO and principal broker of luxury real estate company Hawai’i Life. “It’s a destination with open spaces, access to nature and lots of fresh air, which is all people want today and why properties are selling so quickly.”
According to data from Hawai’i Life, the first three quarters of 2021 saw 64 real estate transactions north of $10 million, compared to 10 in the same period a year earlier. Additionally, the number of transactions north of $3 million in the first quarter of this year was 634, compared to 215 in 2020. Sales were well distributed across all of Hawaii’s islands. “This is the biggest run the real estate market has ever seen,” Beall says.
Options for luxury homes in Hawaii are available both inside and outside branded residential developments, but Beall says the former offer additional benefits. “The developments give you great amenities. In addition to ocean access, you have a spa, tennis, water sports and more,” he says.
Our roundup below looks at six of Hawaii’s most upscale residential developments. We can’t speak for you, but personally we’d love to move in.
