Fall for U.S. destinations during Covid-19 recovery this fall

A recent study by Longwoods International reported that 29% of Americans said they would plan trips to the United States rather than overseas this year because of the Covid-19 Delta variant. Fortunately, the United States has a landscape of phenomenal diversity with climates that are suitable for skiing in the summer and surfing in the winter. Therefore, the resumption of domestic travel in the United States has paved the way as Covid-19 rates decline and vaccinations increase.

This fall, Benchmark Resorts & Hotels is capitalizing on Americans’ desire to travel close to home by offering “Fall Experiences & Getaways” packages at 25 properties across the country.

“Fall is a great time to travel and experience America in all its fall glory and variety,” Benchmark Marketing Director Ted Davis said when announcing the packages. “Our participating hotels offer exceptional travel adventures for the fall season with luxury accommodations, dining options and special amenities such as spas, golf, bike and boat rentals.”

Offers will be in place for travelers throughout the fall season and can be booked here. Favorite destinations include Park City, Utah’s Yotelpad “Leaf the City Behind” promotion. Fall getaways are 20% off for the season. The property is a 30-minute drive from Salt Lake City Airport and is located in the heart of Canyon Villages, at the foot of Park City Mountain Resort.

Old Town Park City is just 4 miles (6.4 km) where fall travelers can shop, dine out, and revel in the relaxed luxury of the ski cowboy atmosphere. Park City. Two other reasons to book are the Fall Balloon Festival and the Park City Wine Festival.

Park City is known as the birthplace of the Sundance Film Festival, and in addition to possible sightings of celebrities, such as its founder, Robert Redford, one can find 400 mountain biking and hiking trails, all with spectacularly colored leaves. A unique way to observe the leaves is to do a 60 mile per hour zipline with a vertical drop of 500 feet at Park City Mountain Resort or Utah Olympic Park.

In Washington state, Skamania Lodge joins the Benchmark Fall package offering 20% off this fall (excluding treehouses and suites).

From October 22 to November 1, the hotel will be hosting a spooky scavenger hunt, which includes a hike along the Creek Loop trail. Guests can snap photos of strategically placed ghosts and goblins to collect a prize at the end of the course. The hotel is also offering a new fall cocktail menu featuring libations of hot cider and sangria.

The Lodge is located in the middle of the mountains surrounding the Columbia River Gorge (also noted Washington Wine Country). As the final days of fall hiking approach, plan a hike to the top of nearby Dog Mountain. Climbing to the top of this 2,800-foot mountain on a 3.5-mile hike can be difficult, but it offers unparalleled vantage points of the surrounding mountains and the gorge below.

Back in Stevenson, the next town, cozy shops filled with books and antiques await. Try North Bank Books where you can find new and used editions of nature and literary finds. Then bring back to the hotel an appropriate copy of Edgar Allen Poe or local Halloween ghost stories for s’mores around the foyer.

In the Texas’ Hill Country, La Cantera Resort and Spa takes advantage of its proximity to the romantic town of San Antonio and its famous Riverwalk to offer its “Fall Together” package for couples. Book a four-night stay until January 31, 2022 and get a cozy blanket, half a bottle of Whispering Angel Rose wine, and a complimentary cold cut board for two.

In addition to strolling the Riverwalk near San Antonio, couples can indulge in the property’s Loma Himalayan Salt Massage from Vida Spa Couples. Other couples massages include hot stone massages and a traditional couples massage. Finally, nothing is more romantic than wine, and Texas has it too. The surrounding Hill Country has no less than 50 wineries offering a wide range of vintages ranging from Italian grape varieties to Rhone-style wines. The rolling hills and rustic scenery of the Pedernales River make this wine tasting tour along Highway 290 a fall Texas Wine Country retreat to write home about.
