Fine wine importer Demeine Estates accelerates the growth of its portfolio and announces an exclusive partnership with La Chablisienne de Bourgogne

NAPA, CA, May 10, 2022–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Fine wine importer Demeine Estates is pleased to announce its import partnership with La Chablisienne de Bourgogne. La Chablisienne is a cooperative cellar created in 1923 and owned by a group of 270 families of winegrowers. As one of the most important producers in Chablis, the estate produces 25% of the wine produced in the AOC and ranks second in total turnover in Burgundy in 2021.

“Demeine Estates is thrilled to be the exclusive US importer for this community of family winemakers,” said Scott Diaz, Senior Vice President of Global Brand Strategy and Marketing for Demeine Estates. “La Chablisienne is the only winery in Chablis that produces serious wines from a mosaic of vineyards while guaranteeing a supply in a category in permanent shortage.”

La Chablisienne remains the property of the producers, without the intervention of any financial institution. Today, the vineyard totals 1200 hectares, 82% of which are Chablis Grand Cru Château Genouilles.

“The American market is very important for La Chablisienne as for Chablis. We wanted to partner with a very good importer, full of energy, with a family instinct who would also understand the production and history of wine”, declared Damien Leclerc , Managing Director and Olivier Masmondet, Export Director.

The vineyard team works with its winegrowers throughout the year. Producers are rewarded for achieving the highest quality based on a 100-point grading system, and anything below a 95 threshold is downgraded from La Chablisienne.

“La Chablisienne aligns with our philosophies because of their superior vineyards that consistently create the best quality wines and set them apart in a prestigious region,” said Carlton McCoy Jr, managing partner of Lawrence Wine Estates.

The winery is known for its distinct style and long “aged” approach focused on quality and expression. The harvest is delivered in the form of musts (unfermented juice), a feature that has become the hallmark of the house and allows total control of the winemaking process. Winemaker Vincent Bartement has been named best winemaker of the year three times by the International Wine Challenge. These elegant cuvées are known for their sense of purity and minerality, sometimes produced with a strategic use of wood.

From Chablis, Demeine Estates will import 9 Premier Crus, 2 Grand Crus, Chablis AOC, Petit Chablis, Aligoté, Sauvignon from Saint-Bris and Bourgogne Chardonnay from Chablis. From the Côte de Nuits, they will import Gevrey-Chambertin and Morey-Saint-Denis Village, Bourgogne Pinot Noir.
