The Largest Wine Festival in the Southwestern United States – September 16, 17, 18, 19, 2021 –Texas Wines Featured at People’s Choice Classic Wine Tasting
VINEYARD, TEXAS (September 27, 2021) – A signature event of GrapeFest, the People’s Choice Wine Tasting Classic is the country’s largest wine competition, judged by consumers. Guests had the opportunity to taste Texas wines from over 30 Texas wineries serving over 130 wines at the 35th Annual GrapeFest – a Texas wine experience. The competition offered eleven 90-minute sessions throughout the weekend, with wines judged in 10 categories. More than 5,600 people attended this event between Thursday September 16 and Sunday September 19. The winners were announced and the prizes were handed out on Sunday, September 19 at 5 p.m. in the People’s Choice Pavilion.
As the fifth largest wine-producing state in the United States, the sunny, dry climate of the Lone Star State is ideal for wine production. The first established vineyard in North America began in the heart of Texas when in 1662 Franciscan priests planted the first vines. European settlers then planted vine cuttings and developed the Texas wine industry during the 1800s.
