Orange is the New Napa with L’Orange de Sémillon, “Brooklynites”, 2020

Napa Valley, California – May 13, 2021 – The fervor for old-style orange wines, once known as ‘sommelier’s favorites’ because of their distinct color, history and ability to pair with many foods. The Vice Wine, a wine producer from across Napa Valley has released one of the few orange wines to come out of the appellation.

Orange de Sémillon, “Brooklynites”, 2020 is the name given to this magnificent Orange de Sémillon produced from a small Napa vineyard and picked in 2020 just before the fires and ensuing smoke.

Sometimes called “white wines of contact with the skin”, orange wines are made by macerating white grapes with their skins, thus giving the wine an orange tint. In contact with the skin, the wine becomes more nuanced and layered thanks to the tannins and phenols released by the skin. The Orange de Sémillon from Vice Wine was made by leaving the juice and the skins in contact for 21 days in two concrete eggs, before removing the skins for the remainder of the eight months of fermentation using wild yeasts. , like the orange wines of the old world. hundreds of years.

Everything The Vice Wine does is done by hand and the team members themselves are an integral part of every step of the winemaking process. Work hard and with enough passion, like team members The Vice Wine and Carly and Kenny from Brooklyn who support founders Malek Amrani and Torie Greenberg Amrani every step of the way, and he may be a special wine named after your hometown.
